We’re just starting the second week of build season, and everyone is hard at work! As a rookie on the business team, it’s been a whirl of excitement—the word ‘confusing’ wouldn’t be inaccurate. Luckily, I’m a part of a team with both experience and cooperation.
Since I’m on the business team, I start up in the classroom.
Here, we see Andrew, one of our Business Leads, finishing up a board during a discussion with our mentors. It was a riveting debate about Chairman’s, and which values we’d like our team to emanate this year.
To understand what the other half of our team was doing, I walked down to the lab. And there’s a lot of stuff going on down there. For example, some of the engineering team was calculating dimensions for the climber.
A little further into the lab, and two of my teammates are talking about safety regulations and what they can do to improve it during build season. It was an interesting conversation to listen to—about safety glasses and how important it was to wear them always. And of course, some of our teammates excited at the concept of being in a photo.
Couldn’t stay with the safety guards for too long though, since there was so much to look at. One table over, we have Zach. I asked him what he was doing, and he gave me a really detailed answer: He was carefully measuring a piece of raw material before preparing it for prototyping. What can I say? Our team is informative.
Turn around, and you’d see another group also hard at work.
Here, this duo is cutting measured plywood in preparation for field elements. Both, of which, are wearing safety glasses. Stay safe! Walking around made me extremely excited for build season, and I’m glad I was able to share those thoughts with my teammates as well.
After a walk around the lab, I’m extremely excited for build season. There’s sounds of drilling, debates, and casual discussion going on everywhere and it’s definitely the beginning of a good season.
